Chris Zomer is a PhD candidate at Deakin University in Melbourne. He studied Media and Culture at the University of Amsterdam and has a master’s degree in Publishing (University of Amsterdam) and Education (Utrecht University). As a former teacher of French, he is interested in the use of videogames and gamification in the classroom. His aim is to investigate the consequences of the hybridization of play and learning both with regards to play as a leisure activity and to education as an institutionalized practice.
